It clearly was the 'cleanest" shot, as the front of the home has a nice mud field, a port-a-potty, and a dumpster. Any empty dumpster, so apparently the full one with a lot of partial cement block debris had been carted off following the torrential rains of previous days.
Our builder tells us that a week from tomorrow (today being Thursday, the 21st), the roof trusses are due to be delivered.
Building a home, especially for the second time in a lifetime, can be exasperating. We built a home in Ballwin Missouri in 1986, with a significantly larger firm (The Jones Company became part of Centex Corp). There was considerably less flexibility, far fewer options, and whenever you made a change, it cost you extra. This time, we're working with a custom builder, one who is willing to explore different options to several plans he suggested. We took one plan, flipped it completely over, added a lap pool, set the garage for side entry, and numerous other ideas from the very fertile brain of my wife, who can see things on plans - whereas I can only see things once they're finished. I hope to periodically update my blog and take readers along for the ride.
Some basics about the new home. Three bedrooms, 3.5 baths. Twenty six hundred square feet of living space, whereas our current condo has but 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and a converted breakfast area which became a den/office, totaling 2,000 and change in square footage. For the first time in 44 years of marriage, we'll have our own pool - albeit a lap pool. And, I'll have an office with plenty of storage, and Elizabeth will have a bonus room for her crafts. So, stay tuned. More pictures next time.
